On behalf of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, I send our deepest condolences to President Fiordaliso’s family and colleagues at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. President Fiordaliso was a prince of a man and a towering figure in our line of work, always putting the needs of his constituents above all else. The outpouring of grief over his sudden passing demonstrates just how deep a legacy he has left. He will be missed by all who knew him, and those impacted by his work.

On a personal note, I considered President Fiordaliso a true friend and mentor. We were both state regulators in the Mid-Atlantic region—Joe having been appointed to the BPU in 2005. He always took time for me and our fellow regulatory colleagues for questions and advice. President Fiordaliso also just participated in his first meeting as a member of the Federal-State Joint Task Force on Electric Transmission. He made very clear how much he cherished this group. President Fiordaliso was a true public servant, in every sense of the word, and, from a personal perspective, a wonderful friend.

There’s no way of shortchanging it—the regulatory community lost a giant today. My heart goes out to his friends, family, and colleagues across the globe.
