Introduction
The Mountain Valley Pipeline Project (CP16-10-000) is a 303-mile interstate natural gas pipeline transporting natural gas from Wetzel County, West Virginia, to Pittsylvania County, Virginia. In October 2017, FERC issued a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing the construction and operation of the project, and the pipeline has since been constructed and placed into service in accordance with the FERC authorization.

Project Background
- October 31, 2014: FERC approved Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC’s request to begin pre-filing (PF15-3-000)
- April 17, 2015: FERC issued the Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement and began scoping.
- October 23, 2015: MVP filed its formal Certificate Application (CP16-10-000).
- September 16, 2016: FERC issued the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
- June 23, 2017: FERC issued the final Environmental Impact Statement.
- October 13, 2017: FERC issued the Certificate Order authorizing the construction and operation of the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
