FERC Chairman Rich Glick will be the keynote speaker at the summer meeting of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners this week in Denver, marking his first in-person appearance as FERC Chairman at a public event since the start of the global pandemic. Glick will be joining NARUC President and President of the Idaho Public Utilities Commission Paul Kjellander for a conversation on issues of interest to both state and federal energy regulators.
“I’m thrilled to be joining our state regulatory colleagues in Denver at NARUC’s Summer Policy Summit,” Chairman Glick said.
The NARUC Summer Policy Summit comes at a significant moment: On June 17, FERC approved creation of a first-of-its-kind Federal-State task force on electric transmission. On July 15, the Commission issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that seeks public comment on an array of questions about potential reforms to improve transmission planning and cost allocation and generator interconnection processes to better meet the needs of the future.
“The task force and our Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking kick-off the Commission’s first major transmission effort in a decade,” Chairman Glick said. “The pace of the energy transition will require FERC and our state counterparts to meet the moment and move expeditiously to advance this conversation. My colleagues and I look forward to tackling these issues with our state partners.”
