Chatterjee Names Morenoff as FERC Acting General Counsel

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Neil Chatterjee has named David Morenoff to become acting general counsel of the Commission.

Morenoff has been serving as deputy general counsel under James Danly. Danly was sworn in today as a FERC Commissioner.

“David has the experience and, importantly, the trust of all of us here at FERC, to serve in this position,” Chairman Chatterjee said. “It’s that kind of dedication to service that we need from a general counsel right now, particularly during this pandemic which has left us all to grapple with new challenges and realities.”

Commissioner Danly agreed. “David is a consummate professional and outstanding lawyer,” he said. “I have relied on his wise counsel since the beginning of my tenure at FERC. I appreciate his willingness to accept this role and am confident that he will provide much-needed continuity during these difficult times.”

Morenoff has served in several senior positions within the Commission’s Office of the General Counsel. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2001, having graduated magna cum laude, with honors in history, from Brown University in 1995. R-20-22
