On Inspector General Review of Internal Controls for Protecting Non-Public Information
“I appreciate and am following the recommendations set forth in the memorandum issued today by the Department of Energy Inspector General. Several weeks ago I asked the Inspector General to advise FERC on how we could improve our processes with respect to information security, and I value his guidance on this important issue.
“FERC is cooperating fully with the Inspector General. I have directed FERC staff to promptly implement the Inspector General’s recommendations and to make this effort a top priority.
“Since I assumed leadership of the Commission, in confronting grid security issues I have focused on protecting both the reliability and security of the grid and the integrity of the Commission. It is vital that the public have confidence that all sensitive energy infrastructure information is protected. I look forward to continuing to work with the Inspector General and am committed to taking any and all needed action to strengthen FERC’s information security processes.”
