Customer Service Levels (CSLs)

For Services Provided by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Public Reference Room

(Fees apply to most services; CSLs do not include delivery time of materials. Delivery is made by United States Postal Service, standard delivery, unless other arrangements are made by the customer, such as FedEx or electronic delivery. )
Service Description Customer Service Level Data Needed for Request Note
Requests for Records - Off-Site (including gas tariffs) Requests for original documents stored at off-site storage facilities 7-10 business days Via Written Request: Date, docket and sub-docket number or tariff/rate schedule number, description of document;Via Walk-In: Fill out Request for Records with specific dates of documents, descriptions, and docket and sub-docket numbers or tariff/rate schedule number. Documents must be obtained from eLibrary if available. Assistance for use of publicly-available computers is available.
Requests for Records - On-Site (including electric tariffs) Requests for original documents stored at FERC 1-3 business days Via Written Request: Document identifying information (i.e. accession number, docket and sub-docket number or tariff/rate schedule number, date, company name, description of document);Via Walk-In: Fill out Request for Records with specific date of document, description, and docket and sub-docket number or tariff/rate schedule number. Documents must be obtained from eLibrary if available. Assistance for use of publicly-available computers is available.
Requests for Printing Documents from eLibrary for requester Requests for Public Reference Room to print documents available in non-microform format (full service) 1 business day Via Written Request: Must include document identifying information (i.e. accession number, docket and sub-docket number, date, company name, description of document);Via Walk-In: Customer must use publicly available computers to print documents. Assistance for use of publicly-available computers is available.
Requests for Printing Microform Documents from eLibrary for requester Requests for Public Reference Room to print documents only available in microform for requester (full-service microform) 3 business days, depending on total number of pages within document(s) Via Written Request: Must include document identifying information (i.e. accession number, docket and sub-docket number, date, description of document);Via Walk-In: Customer must use publicly available computers to request documents. Assistance for use of publicly-available computers is available.
Photocopying Requests for Public Reference Room to photocopy documents retrieved from on-site storage or from off-site storage for the requester 1-3 business days after receipt of records from storage. Via Written Request: Docket and sub-docket number, accession number (if available), file date, description of document or other document identifying information.Via Walk-In: Self-Service Depends on clarity of request and condition and volume of records.
Requests for Certifications Requests for document certification 1 business day Via Written Request: Docket and sub-docket number, accession number, file date, description, quantity of copies;Via Walk-In: Certification Request Form required. Identify docket and sub-docket number, accession number, file date, description and quantity. No charge for Government agencies.Depends on availability of Secretary of the Commission staff.
Requests for Hearing Transcripts   1 business day after transcripts become publicly available. Via Written Request: Docket and sub-docket number, accession number, file date and description of transcript;Via Walk-In: Self-Service Transcripts available in Public Reference Room 10 business days after hearing. Transcripts may be available through eLibrary 8 days after hearing.
