FERC Extends Emergency Propane Shipments

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today voted to extend the priority treatment of propane shipments to consumers in the Midwest and Northeast by one week, through February 21, 2014.

The Commission’s decision today came in response to an agreement reached February 10 between Enterprise TE Products Pipeline Company, LLC, and the National Propane Gas Association.

FERC on February 7 invoked its emergency authority under the Interstate Commerce Act to help alleviate a shortage of propane in the Midwest and Northeast due to severe cold weather. That marked the first time the Commission has used its emergency authority.
