gigajoules is 1.055056 gigajoules per dekatherm and
between dekatherms and gigacalories is .251996
gigacalories per dekatherm. The standard Btu is the
International Btu, which is called the Btu(IT); the
standard joule is the joule specified in the SI system of
units.*
1.8 "Equivalent volumes" means the sum of the volumes of
gas measured in dekatherms received by Transporter for the
account of Shipper at the points of receipt during any
given period of time, (a) reduced by (i) Shipper's pro
rata share of fuel gas and the unaccounted-for gas
resulting from the operations of Transporter during the
same period of time and (ii) any gas vented during the
same period of time, (b) adjusted for any variations in
Btu content, as corrected for any water vapor in excess
offive pounds per million cubic feet of gas. The volumes
of gas delivered at the point of delivery after
transportation shall be the thermal equivalent of the
volumes of gas received at the point of receipt for
transportation, after reduction, correction and adjustment
as provided above.

and the American Society for Testing Materials. For non-
commercial purposes, these associations note that the exact
conversion factor is 1.05505585262 Gigajoules per Dekatherm.
