PRELIMINARY STATEMENT

MarkWest Pioneer, L.L.C. is a natural gas pipeline company principally engaged in

the business of transporting natural gas in interstate commerce, under authorization granted

by and subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Its Arkoma

Connector Pipeline System commences at the outlet of MarkWest’s Sprague treatment plant in

Coal County, Oklahoma, and extends approximately 50 miles to interconnections with the

Midcontinent Express Pipeline, L.L.C. and Gulf Crossing Pipeline, L.L.C. near Bennington,

Oklahoma.
