PRELIMINARY STATEMENT

Michigan Gas Storage Company (MGS) is engaged in the business of

transportation and storage of natural gas in interstate commerce under

authorization granted by and subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal

Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

MGS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Consumers Energy Company, a public

utility rendering natural gas service to over 1,600,000 customers in

the State of Michigan.

This FERC Gas Tariff is filed in compliance with Part 154 of the Federal

Energy Regulatory Commission's Regulations under the Natural Gas Act, as

amended.
