17.5 Gas Research Institute.

(a) Transporter has joined with other Gas enterprises in the

formation of and participation in the Gas Research Institute

(GRI), an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. GRI sponsors

research, development, and demonstration programs in the

field of natural and manufactured Gas to assist all segments

of the Gas industry in providing adequate, reliable, safe,

economic, and environmentally acceptable Gas service to Gas

consumers and the general public.

(b) Pursuant to Section 1.7 of the January 21, 1998, GRI

settlement in Docket No. RP97-149-003, et al., Transporter

will act as a voluntary collection agent for Shippers who

voluntarily choose to support GRI programs. CIG invoices will

provide notification of a "check the box" voluntary GRI

contribution form, which once completed and returned to

Transporter, will be billed by CIG on a monthly basis until

modified or canceled by a Shipper. The "check the box" form

will allow Shippers to specify the level of monthly

contribution and the project or project areas to be funded.
