PRELIMINARY STATEMENT

This Sixth Revised Volume No. 1 of the FERC Gas Tariff of CenterPoint

Energy Gas Transmission Company ("CEGT") contains the Rates and Charges, Rate

Schedules, Forms of Service Agreement and the General Terms and Conditions

applicable to open access transportation and storage services performed by

CEGT pursuant to a certificate issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory

Commission in Docket No. CP88-820-000, and the Commission's Regulations found

at 18 C.F.R. Part 284.

CEGT is a corporation organized and existing under the laws of the state

of Delaware. Its principal office is located at 1111 Louisiana, Houston,

Texas 77002-5231. CEGT is an indirect subsidiary of CenterPoint Energy, Inc.

CEGT has facilities in place to transport and deliver natural gas to customers

and pipeline interconnections located in the states of Arkansas, Kansas,

Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.
