Order No. 714 mandated that regulated entities file their tariff filings electronically, effective April 1, 2010. One of the required data elements to enter the FERC's eTariff filing web page and required as part of the XML filing package is a "Company Identifier" [company_id]. This application will permit a company to request a Company Identifier, modify information associated with an existing Company Identifier, and request a new password.

The requested data and the associated Company Identifier will be used by the Commission to identify the company making a tariff filing, notify the regulated entity that a tariff filing has been made in its name and to create a list of regulated entities.

All the information required as part of the Company Registration will be considered public information, and will be made available to the public by the Commission in a variety of formats.

Effective November 9, 2009, companies may register and obtain a Company Identifier. However, a Company Identifier will not be necessary to make tariff filings until April 1, 2010.
